Deadline to comment on the DEIS for the World Trade Center Campus Security Plan

A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was drawn up for The World Trade Center Campus Security Plan on April 8, 2013. Following that, a public hearing on the DEIS was held on April 23. Catherine McVay Hughes, chair of Community Board 1 testified at that hearing and drew attention to the need for additional information regarding provisions for future storms and potential flooding; she also requested an extension of air quality monitoring; asked where the Downtown PATH greenmarket would be relocated; and also requested further review of the impact of continued construction vehicle access to the World Trade Center Campus during the completion of the Master Plan. Her full statement can be read here.

The public were invited to submit written comments on the DEIS to the Lead Agency by 5:00pm on May 8 (30 days after the Notice of Completion was issued). That deadline has now been extended to 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Comments should be sent to: Assistant Commissioner David Kelly, Conterterrorism Division, NYC Police Department, One Police Plaza, New York, NY 10038.
