9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The fifteenth annual James A. Greenleaf, Jr. Memorial Golf Outing will be held at Lake of Isles on Monday, August 1, 2016 with registration beginning at 10:00am and the shotgun start at 12:00pm. The fee of $250.00 per person includes 18 holes of golf, cart, boxed lunch, a golf shirt, a sleeve of golf balls, bag tag, free use of the driving range, and dinner and reception with a silent auction and raffles. The Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation, Fire Chiefs’ Association of Palm Beach County and Palm Beach Gardens Fire-Rescue are sponsoring a September 11th Remembrance Essay Contest for the second year. Competing students in grades nine to 12 must write a 500-700 word essay that “reflects on how the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 affected our nation and the future of the world.” It’s open to residents of Palm Beach Gardens and dependents of city employees. The Spirit of America blood drive will return to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan for the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Since its inception in 2002, the Spirit of America blood drive has collected more than 10,194 blood products, potentially helping save more than 30,438 lives. Those who attempt to donate blood will have the opportunity to ride the MIS tram around the track, to the Home of the Brave exhibit.
