Delete Blood Cancer Gala

The seventh annual Delete Blood Cancer Gala will be held on Wednesday, May 1,  2013 at Cipriani Wall Street.

The highlight of the evening will come during a miracle moment when a young woman is introduced for the first time to the donor who saved her life. All proceeds raised from the event will be used to register lifesaving bone marrow donors.

Lady Antebellum and Jill Scott will perform.

The event is black-tie.

Delete Blood Cancer is one of the world’s largest bone marrow donor centers. Their efforts have helped in registering more than 3.5 million potential donors and facilitated over 35,000 life-saving transplants. Blood cancers  – leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma, especially — are epidemic among World Trade Center recovery workers.

For more information or to register as a bone marrow donor, please visit www.deletebloodcancer.org or call 212-209-6700.

10th Annual Run as One Race for Lung Cancer & Lung Cancer Health Fair

The tenth annual Run as One 4-mile run for lung cancer and lung cancer health fair will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2013 in Central Park.

As a qualifying event for the ING NYC Marathon, the Run as One is much more than a cause race, attracting elite runners as well as recreational enthusiasts. Each year, Run as One has increased in size. Now, with more than 13,000 runners and walkers participating last year, Run as One is the world’s largest 4-mile race!

Run As One has something for everyone. A fast and flat 4-mile run, a 1.3 mile walk and a post-race event in Rumsey Playfield that offers children’s activities (moon bounces, face painters and carnival games).

Also at the post-race event is a health fair that showcases the work of several lung cancer foundations, each with staff on hand to answer people’s questions about lung cancer and help inform them of the different programs available to patients and families affected by this disease.
