Captain Jason Dahl Dove Race for Youth

A family day will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Sagewood II Shopping Center in Littleton.

Attractions include: the raptor conservation group HawkQuest who will present a live bald eagle, great horned owl, peregrine falcon, and Harris hawk for display; an all-day outdoor crafts fair; Denver firemen, helicopter pilots, and flight nurses; and more.

At 2:00pm the annual Captain Jason Dahl Dove Race for Youth takes place. More than 100 white homing pigeons are released to “race” back to their home lofts in Arvada. Sponsors of the winning birds win prizes. You can sponsor a dove for a small contribution to the Jason Dahl Scholarship Foundation.

Jason Dahl was the Captain of United Flight 93, which was hijacked by terrorists on September 11, 2001. Jason was a Littleton Ken-Caryl resident and an outstanding member of the community. His story is well known for the brave acts he preformed that fateful day more than 11 years ago. The foundation named for him raises money for scholarships at Denver’s Metro State.
