Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Ambelas Children’s Education Fund will host an Oktoberfest fundraiser on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Staten Island’s Hillside Swim Club. The fun begins at 12:00pm and runs all afternoon. The 13th annual Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Scholarship Fund 5-K Run and Walk will begin at 9:00am on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Russell’s Corner in Sandwich, MA. Captain Gerald F. The memorial service for Lt. William “Bill” Dement will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10:00am at the Sanctuary on the River in Ruidoso, New Mexico. With the NYPD for years, Lt. Dement died of World Trade Center-related illness. He was 52.
