Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The 11th annual Jack Fanning Memorial Foundation “Angels for Autism” Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, NY. This year’s Red Bandanna Run will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 on the campus of Boston College. The Red Bandanna Run honors Welles Remy Crowther, who has earned the nickname “the man in the red bandanna”. Support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and have a day of fun for the whole family at Baldwin Park on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The day begins with the half-mile kids fun run at 9:00am. The fee to run is $10.00. The 5-K run/walk for adults begins at 9:30am with a $20.00 fee to participate. On Friday, October 24, 2014 at 7:00pm a fundraiser will be held for FDNY Lieutenant Tom Bohn, who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident on Medal Day 2014. Lt. Bohn was hospitalized for several months for his injuries and will require extensive rehabilitation. The fundraiser will be held at The Main Event in Farmingdale. On Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 1:00pm, come run to defeat blood cancers, which are the most common cancers suffered from by recovery workers who worked at the World Trade Center. The run will begin at Islip Town Hall, at the corner of South Bay Avenue and Montauk Highway. Runners will proceed to Islip Town Beach, then back to the Islip Town Hall area. The 32nd annual dinner dance of the FDNY Viking Association will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Staaten in Staten Island. Admission is $85.00 per person. The Olsen/Barry Memorial Scholarship will be presented during the evening.
