Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The NY Jets are hosting an appreciation event for police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 8:30pm. The annual Lt. John Martinson Memorial Picnic will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from noon to 6:00pm at the Hillside Swim Club in Staten Island. The 14th annual Jeff Coombs Memorial Road Race, Walk and Family Day will take place at 9:00am on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Woodsdale School in Abington, MA. This year’s race will be dedicated to Sgt. Danny Vasselian, USMC, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on December 23, 2013. The third annual two-mile Remember Me Run will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Queens on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 3:00pm. The sixth annual Friends of Peter Alderman Walk will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00am beginning in the lower parking lot of Scarsdale Village Hall.
