9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Brian Moore Memorial Foundation Walk will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Belmont Park. The walk will begin at 10:00am at the Marquee Tent near the Clubhouse entrance of Belmont Park and end 3.4 miles away on Det. Brian Moore Way in Cambria Heights. JR’s Angels’ fifth annual bowling fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Check-in begins at 5:00pm with bowling from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. A day to honor the heroes from the NYPD’s Special Operations Division who gave their lives in the line of duty will be held from 10:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Floyd Bennett Field. In addition to the memorial ceremony, the day’s events will include presentations by the NYPD’s ESU, Aviation, Harbor, Mounted, and Canine units and an exhibit of vintage police vehicles. This year’s Oklahoma City Marathon, the Run to Remember, will be run on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Voted one of the 12 ‘must-run’ marathons in the world by Runner’s World magazine, the Run to Remember honors the 168 people murdered in the bombing of the Alfred Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. The annual Mark Ellis Memorial Walk will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Farmingdale State College’s Campus Center. Registration begins at 9:00am and the walk will begin at 10:00am. The Empty Sky Walkathon will take place on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Liberty State Park. Registration begins at 8:30am. Proceeds raised will go towards maintaining the 210-foot long brushed stainless steel walls that comprise the memorial. The Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial is New Jersey’s official memorial to the 749 people who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and who lived in or had ties to New Jersey.
