9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial are hosting the second annual Walk 93 on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Money raised from the walk will replace trees in the Memorial Groves that have been damaged. The walk will be held rain or shine and is not a timed race. Participants will tour the new visitor center privately at 8:00am. At 9:00am, walkers will take a reflective walk along the 2.28-mile Allee Walkway, Wetlands Bridge and Western Overlook Trail. The Lt. Joe Gullickson Memorial Picnic will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm at Staten Island’s Nansen Park. The picnic will be held rain or shine. The admission fee is $40.00 per adult, $10.00 each for children aged 6-14, and free for children 5 and under. Funds raised will support The Maverick Foundation’s scholarships. A ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 12:00pm to rename FDNY High School in Brooklyn the Captain Vernon A. Richard High School for Public Safety. The ceremony will take approximately one hour in the school’s auditorium. Captain Vernon A. The annual G.R.A.C.E. Tribute 5-K Run in Glen Rock, NJ will be held this year on Monday, July 4, 2016. At 8:30am, the 2-K Junior Run will be held, with the 5-K Tribute Run beginning at 9:00am. G.R.A.C.E. (Glen Rock Assistance Council & Endowment) was established shortly after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 to assist family members of those murdered in the attacks. The fifteenth annual Chief Jerry Barbara Night at the Staten Island Yankees will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
