Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony for the Chatham County First Responders’ Memorial on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 3:00pm in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs if they would like to. World Trade Center survivor Joseph Dittmar will speak. The Wake & District Pipe Band will play. Warren County will hold a ceremony honoring all the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 on Sunday, September 7, 2014 starting at 1:00pm at the Warren County Emergency Services and 9/11 Memorial. The annual luminaria ceremony at the National Flight 93 Memorial will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. The public is invited to observe as family members of victims and friends of the Memorial carry 40 lighted lanterns, one for each passenger and crew member of United Flight 93, from the shelter to the Wall of Names on the Memorial Plaza at twilight (approximately 7:30pm).
