Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Tree lighting/street naming at 9/11 Responders Remembered Park

On Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 6:00pm, there will be a Christmas tree lighting, and the naming of the street “Heroes’ Way” in honour of all the hundreds of recovery workers from the World Trade Center recovery effort who have died of illnesses contracted there.

Carols will be sung and Santa has been sighted in the area! Seasonal refreshments will be available.

Barnegat 9/11 Memorial Dedication

On Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 1:00pm, the Barnegat 9/11 memorial will be dedicated. The memorial is located just outside the Barnegat Township municipal building.

The memorial’s centerpiece is a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The steel, which is more than 11 feet high, is from the ‘B’ parking level of Tower 1.

Advocates for Justice honor World Trade Center recovery worker Mike Kenny

The non-profit public interest law firm Advocates for Justice will host their 2012 Fall Awards Ceremony to honor outstanding community advocates. The ceremony will take place on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 7:30pm at Symphony Space.

A Lifetime of Leadership Award will be presented to recovery worker Mike Kenny, for his service after the terrorist attacks and for his work for sick recovery workers.

Dedication of the West Islip September 11th Memorial – NEW DATE

The West Islip Chamber of Commerce is hosting a rescheduled dedication ceremony for their new 9/11 Memorial on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at at 9:00am. The original date for the dedication was changed after Hurricane Sandy.

The ceremony will take place at the September 11th memorial, which is on the corner of Higbie Lane and Paumanake Avenue. Steel from a tower of the World Trade Center forms the heart of the memorial, which remembers the local residents who were murdered by terrorists on September 11, 2001.

All attendees are invited to a breakfast after the ceremony. Please park at Boyd Spencer Funeral Home.

NYPD Celebrates the 237th Birthday of the US Marine Corps

The NYPD Marine Corps Association proudly celebrates the 237th birthday of our Corps at NYPD Headquarters at One Police Plaza on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00am. Join Commissioner Raymond Kelly and the dais for a full breakfast spread served at 10:00am before the ceremony.

The after-party will be at TGIF Fridays at 47 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
