The Port Authority Police Department Hoops Madness will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 8:00am at the Fastbreak Basketball Center in Staten Island.
This year’s tournament will benefit a family from Newtown, CT and the PAPD BB.

Twelve firehouses from Staten Island will play their own version of March Madness to benefit the Firefighter Jeff Giordano Children’s Playroom at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Burn Center. FF Giordano was killed in the line of duty during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
The games start Monday at 7:00am at Port Richmond’s CYO Center. Play goes until the last two firehouses play the final. 50/50s and t-shirts will be sold.
After the tournament, everyone heads to Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern.

The annual Wall-O’Mahony Basketball Game at Johns Hopkins University will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Goldfarb Gymnasium. This year’s opponent is Swarthmore.
The Wall-O’Mahony reception follows the game in the Evans Room of the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center.
Glen Wall & Matt O’Mahony both played basketball for the Blue Jays and were murdered at Cantor Fitzgerald in Tower One of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Glen Wall was 38. Matthew O’Mahony was 39. Their alma mater honors them annually with a game.

The 11th annual Billy Minardi Classic basketball tournament will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. The time is TBA.The event is named in memory of Coach Pitino’s brother-in-law, Billy Minardi, who was murdered in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
The Classic this year will pit Louisville against Florida International. Florida International is coached by former UofL assistant and Louisville coach Pitino’s son Richard Pitino.
There is a four-game ticket package available for $100.00 that includes the Cardinals’ two exhibition games — Nov. 1 vs. Pikeville and Nov. 7 vs. Belllarmine — as well as the Nov. 15 Battle 4 Atlantis opening game against Samford and the Dec. 19 Billy Minardi Classic.
The available seats are located in the upper ends of the KFC Yum! Center. Tickets will go on sale at both U of L ticket offices, located near Gate 2 of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium off Floyd Street; and on the third floor of the Swain Student Activities Center. Both locations are open weekdays from 9:00am until 5:00pm.

The New York Liberty basketball team invites the public to support the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund by attending the team’s biggest game of the year on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
The New York Liberty will be playing the Los Angeles Sparks at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ at 4:00pm.
