Lt. Steve Reisman Fundraiser

On Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 3:00pm-9:00pm at Williston Post American Legion a fundraiser will be held for Lt. Steve Reisman. Steve, a husband and father of 2, was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer in 2011. He is undergoing treatment but the financial hardships are a terrible burden on his family.

A donation of $50.00 at the door includes food, drink, raffles, and prizes. Monetary donations can be sent through the bag to: Division 6 (Friends of Steve). Make checks payable to Engine 71.

Bone marrow drive for DC Steven Bonano, NYPD (ret.)

Retired NYPD cop and 9/11 recovery worker Deputy Chief Steven Bonano needs a bone marrow transplant to fight his site-related cancer.

There will be a bone-marrow registry drive for him in downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 and Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Bonano served as commander of the elite NYPD Emergency Service Unit, responded to the terrorist attacks and worked during the recovery effort.

The bone-marrow registration drive will be held at 345 Jay Street in Brooklyn.

 A benefit for NYPD Detective Joe Pidoto will take place on Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh.

Joe is suffering from life-threatening gastrointestinal cancer. He is a 45-year-old active detective with the Queens Robbery Squad. He has a loving family. Please help them defray some of the costs of Joe’s illness, surgeries, treatments and care.

Tickets are $60.00 and include open bar, buffet and entertainment.

Piper Down Relief Party for members of NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums affected by Hurricane Sandy

The NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums will host the Piper Down Relief Party to help their members affected by Hurricane Sandy on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Jackie Reilly’s in Bethpage.

A $50.00 donation at the door will include live music from the NYPD Pipes & Drums, the Billy Keenan Prime Time Show Band and Boston’s Devri Band. There will also be an open bar and food.

Fundraiser for Police Officer Owen Ortiz

Police Officer Owen Ortiz has stage 4 cancer. It began in his cheek last year, and it has now spread to his head, neck and throat. Officer Ortiz has a wife and a 4-year-old daughter. Officer Ortiz’ cancer required daily radiation treatments. After several weeks, his NYPD benefits for cancer treatment expired. Ortiz has incurred many out-of-pocket expenses.

His fellow officers of the 49th Precinct will host a fundraiser for him on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at the Pine Bar & Grill in the Bronx.

A $20.00 admission fee will get food and music. There will be raffles — prizes include items from New York sports teams. The grand raffle prize is a private concert by Katy Perry.

Patrick is the son of FDNY Firefighter Martin Gajovczyk (L-126) and his wife Magda. He is 4 years old and has been diagnosed with a Supratentorial Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (SPNET) a rare type of brain cancer.
