9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. In celebration of July 4th, A Tribute to Old Glory, an exhibit of paintings by Scott Lobaido, will open on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 6:00pm with a reception at the Broome Street Gallery. During the reception, LoBaido will create an American flag painting in three minutes. A number of LoBaido’s works celebrating the American flag will be shown and will be available for purchase. The exhibit can also be seen from Wednesday, July 2, 2014 through Friday, July 4, 2014 between 10:00am and 5:00pm. The New York Lizards’ 2014 Heroes Day will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Hofstra University in Hempstead. Every ticket purchased helps raise funds for the PBA Widows’ and Children’s Fund and the Thomas R. Elsasser Fund (a fund for the dependents of firefighters who die from causes other than falling in the line of duty). There will be fireworks after the final game. The 11th annual G.R.A.C.E. 9/11 Tribute Run will be held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 9:00am in Glen Rock’s Veterans’ Park. There will be both 2-K and 5-K events, and a free one-mile walk. G.R.A.C.E. was established shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 to provide assistance to family members of those murdered.
