9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Shirley Fiterman Art Center at Borough of Manhattan Community College in Lower Manhattan is hosting Top of the World, an exhibit on the rebuilding of the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks. The exhibit opened on November 12, 2013 (coinciding with the opening of 4 WTC) and is ongoing. The Commissioning of the USS Somerset, the Navy ship honoring the crew and passengers of United Flight 93, will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 1, 2014. The second Music for Newtown auction will be held live from Wednesday, January 22, 2014 to Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Colin Flood, who is 7, has been battling leukemia for the last two years. He is the son of Kevin Flood, a retired firefighter from Engine 210, who served with the FDNY during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Colin was first diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia on December 24, 2012. He received chemotherapy and then underwent a bone marrow transfusion. Remembrance Wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery will be removed on Saturday, January 25, 2014. There is no rain or snow date. Please remember that it is just as important to remove the wreaths as it is to place them. On Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00am, there will be a Memorial Mass honoring the memory of Lt. Curtis W. Meyran of Battalion 26 and Lt. John G. Bellew of Ladder 27. Engine 46/Ladder 27 will host the Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in the Bronx. The Mass will commemorate the ninth anniversary of their supreme sacrifice on Black Sunday.
