9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. The Shirley Fiterman Art Center at Borough of Manhattan Community College in Lower Manhattan is hosting Top of the World, an exhibit on the rebuilding of the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks. Wethersfield, CT has lit Christmas Eve luminarias for 39 years. Again this year, the Keane Foundation is selling luminaria kits to make it easy to participate in this beautiful tradition. Kits include a 14-hour candle, special bag, and instructions. Each kit is $1.50. All funds raised will support the Keane Foundation 9/11 Memorial Sports Center, which honors Richard “Dick” Keane, who was killed in the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 in Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. The annual Amy King 5-K will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00am at the Lakewood Community Center in Lakewood, NY. The free Kids’ Race, for children 3-10, will begin at 11:30am. Somerset Medical Center in NJ is holding the annual PO Tom Gorman Memorial Blood Drive throughout the month of December at the Somerville hospital to honor Port Authority Police Officer Thomas Gorman, a regular blood donor at the hospital who was killed saving others during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Where to Turn and the Secret Sandy Claus Project are helping Santa to distribute 15,000 toys to children impacted by Hurricane Sandy this Christmas. Their project spans Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey.
