American flags bearing the name of all of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks will be on display at Omaha’s Memorial Park from Friday, September 6, 2013 to Sunday, September 15, 2013. This year’s Annual James H. Pirtle Walk for the Heroes will start at the Gateway Motel in Hurley at 11:00pm on Friday, September 13, 2013. The walk continues all night, reaching Diaz Farms in Deming at approximately 2:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013. The Walk for the Heroes is approximately 36.5 miles long. The third annual FDNY 343 Ride will take place on Monday, September 15, 2013 and Tuesday, September 16, 2013. More than 100 cyclists are expected for the 135-mile journey from the World Trade Center site to Montauk Point Lighthouse on Long Island. The FDNY 343 Ride was founded in September 2011 to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The third annual Harmon Meadow Run for the Warriors will be held at the Plaza at Harmon Meadow on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 8:30am. Registration will be held from 7:00am to 8:15am. Participants may choose from a 5-kilometer race or a 1-mile walk/run. Registration is $30.00 per participant.
