The week-long 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive is held each year in memory of the Staten Islanders killed in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of 2001 and 1993. The annual goal is to raise one pint of blood for each victim – 275 victims from both attacks, but the drive has surpassed that mark annually. Last year’s drive collected 668 pints. The 90-minute film The Flag will air on CNN on Wednesday, September 4, at 9:00pm, and 10:30pm EST, and on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1:00am, EST. The Flag tells the story of the disappearance of the flag raised by three firefighters at the World Trade Center site on the evening of the attacks.
