Widow of September 11 co-pilot speaks

February 17, 2013 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The widow of the co-pilot of United Flight 93 will speak Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Wilmington’s Barnes & Noble.  Melodie Homer will give a reading from her book, From Where I Stand, beginning at 2:00pm in the bookstore. A signing will follow.

Homer’s husband, LeRoy W. Homer Jr., was first officer and co-pilot aboard the United Airlines flight that crashed on the morning of September 11, 2001, near Shanksville, Pa.

The airliner had been hijacked by members of al-Qaida in the same attack that destroyed the World Trade Center in New York and damaged the Pentagon in Washington. According to reports, the hijackers of United 93 were foiled by an uprising by passengers and crew members. Otherwise, the jet was apparently intended to crash into the U.S. Capitol.

For more information, please call Barnes & Noble at 910-509-1880.
