9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Staten Island Firefighters’ Basketball Tournament honoring FF Jeff Giordano

On Monday March 31, 2014, from 9:00am onward, twelve FDNY firehouses from Staten Island will hold a one-day March Madness tournament to benefit the Firefighter Jeff Giordano Children’s Playroom at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Burn Center. The first game begins at 9:00am. The championship game will begin at 7:00pm.
FF Jeff Giordano was killed in the line of duty during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The playroom was named for him because of his tireless work for the Burn Center.
The tournament will be held at Port Richmond’s Catholic Youth Organization Center. Play goes on until the last two firehouses play the championship game. There will also be 50/50s. T-shirts will be available.
Family members of Rescue 5’s Mike Fiore, a champion basketball player who was also killed during the terrorist attacks, will attend the championship game.
After the last basket, Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern will host the after-party.
