SSG James McNaughton Tribute (note new date)

April 16, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The annual SSG James McNaughton Tribute will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at Mulcahy’s Pub & Music Hall in Wantagh, NY. Please note the new date – it was decided to change from January to near Jimmy’s birthday, after bad weather in past years.

NYPD Officer and US Army Sergeant James “Jimmy” McNaughton was 27 when he became the first NYPD officer to give his life for his country while serving as a soldier in Iraq.

In June of 2005 his CO asked for volunteers with police experience to help train the Iraqi Highway Patrol. Jimmy accepted the dangerous assignment because the other qualified soldiers had wives and children. He was shot and killed by a sniper on August 2, 2005, while completing this assignment.

The event that honors him will include live music, raffles, giveaways, drink specials, free food, and more, all for a donation of $20.00. Money raised at this event will go to the James McNaughton Foundation, a non-profit organization that donates to the Centereach High School Scholarship fund, the Wounded Warrior Project, 9-1-1 Veterans, for Long Island’s veterans, and the Intrepid Fallen Hero Fund.
