September 11 Observances at Trinity Church & St. Paul’s Chapel – Lower Manhattan

September 11, 2014

On Thursday, September 11, 2014, Trinity Church & St. Paul’s Chapel will hold several commemorative events in honor of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 2001.

Beginning at 8:46am, the time that the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, there will be prayers for peace and the ringing of the Bell of Hope in the churchyard of St. Paul’s Chapel. The bell is used to remember those who have died in acts of violence.

A Votive Eucharist for Peace will be held in Trinity Church at 12:05pm, and a Mass for Peace will take place in St. Paul’s Chapel at 12:30pm.

At 1:00pm, the West Point Band and the West Point Glee Club will celebrate the resilience of the American people and the 200th anniversary of The Star-Spangled Banner with early versions of the national anthem woven throughout the concert with other patriotic music.

In the afternoon, meditative music will provide time for visitors to reflect in St. Paul’s Chapel.

All events are free and all are welcome to join the Trinity community in remembrance and prayer. To find more details, please click here.
