The  lecture will be held on Friday\, October 11\, 2013 at 3:00pm at Haaren Hall at John Jay College. \nCurrently a Senior Research Fellow at the Center on Terrorism at John Jay\, Professor Hamm is a leading scholar on prison radicalization and recruitment in the United States. His most recent book and subject of his seminar\, The Spectacular Few: Prisoner Radicalization and the Evolving Terrorist Threat\, examines prisoner radicalization from a range of perspectives\, including historical analyses from Malcolm X to detainees at Guantanamo. \nProfessor Hamm is currently studying lone wolf terrorism in the US between 1940 and 2012 and is building a database on lone wolf terrorism. \nHis other works include Terrorism as Crime: From Oklahoma City to Al-Qaeda and Beyond;  In Bad Company: America’s Terrorist Underground (2002)\, Apocalypse in Oklahoma: Waco and Ruby Ridge Revenged (1997)\, and American Skinheads: The Criminology and Control of Hate Crime (1993). \nCopies of The Spectacular Few will be available for sale at the seminar.
