Dedication of Warren Township Heroes Memorial Monument

May 27, 2013 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

The dedication of the new Heroes Memorial Monument, which honors veterans and the first responders to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, will take place at 9:30am on Monday, May 27, 2013 on the lawn in front of Warren Township Town Hall. At 11:00am following the dedication, the annual Memorial Day Parade will begin. Following the parade will be a memorial service and wreath laying at the nearby Veterans’ Monument.

The dedication was originally scheduled for November 4, 2012, but was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

The memorial was constructed last year, and consists of a granite boulder bearing the date “September 11, 2001” and the number of members of uniformed services who were killed in the attacks — 343 from the Fire Department of New York; 23 from the New York Police Department; 37 from the Port Authority Police Department; and 8 emergency medical personnel from various agencies.

Donations are still needed to complete lighting and signage. Donor forms can be found on the township’s website.
