Deadline to submit recovery worker names to Staten Island memorial

April 1, 2017 @ 9:00 am - April 14, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

Families of the Staten Island rescue and recovery workers from the World Trade Center site who have since died of September 11th-related illnesses have until Friday, April 14, 2017 to submit names for inclusion on the memorial in their memory in order to have names carved in time for this year’s September 11th ceremony.

To submit the name of your loved one, please contact Emma Pfohman at epfohman@edc.nyc by April 14, 2017 with the full name of your loved one, including middle initial, the organization he or she served with at the site, his or her title and date of death. You will also need to submit either a certification document from the World Trade Center Health Program (Zadroga Act); or an award letter from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

There will be opportunities to submit names for inclusion after this date, but the names submitted after the 14th may not be ready in time for this year’s ceremony.

The memorial is ready for names to be engraved. It is a marble tablet on the fence near the Postcards Memorial bearing the legend, “Dedicated to those First Responders who lost their lives as a result of their service in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center in the days and months following September 11, 2001.”
