On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, there will be a celebration of the life of Fire Marshal Christopher Zanetis, better known as “Tripp,” at Rise Bar in New York from 6:00-9:00pm.

FDNY Fire Marshal Christopher “Tripp” Zanetis, who was also a major in the 106th Rescue Wing, New York Air National Guard, was killed in the line of duty on March 15, 2018 in a helicopter crash during a mission along the Iraq-Syria border. He was 37 years old.

Fire Marshal Zanetis lived near the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Upon learning of the terrorist attack, Tripp rushed to the site and volunteered until midnight. Because of the people he met, he joined the FDNY in 2004. He served with Engine 28/Ladder 11 before his promotion to Fire Marshal.

He joined the Air National Guard in 2008 and has received the Meritorious Service Medal and five Air Medals for combat missions.
