Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Cancer Treatment: How to Make Informed Choices about Standard Care & Clinical Trials

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society invites patients, their caregivers and healthcare professionals to a seminar entitled Cancer Treatment: How to Make Informed Choices about Standard Care & Clinical Trials. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Hilton Garden Inn Melville.

The evening’s speaker will be Colleen DeGaetano, RN, MHA, OCN of the Monter Cancer Center at the North Shore LIJ Center for Advanced Medicine…

Registration and dinner will be held at 6:00pm with the program from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Topics covered will include – steps to take to help you make treatment decisions; questions to ask about benefits and risks of standard treatments and those under study in clinical trials; how new blood cancer treatments are developed and approved; how to locate clinical trials that may be right for you; how to sort myth from fact about clinical trials and how the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society can help you.
