Those already inside viewing areas may be asked to open their bags by police or security personnel. Spectators are strongly discouraged from carrying many items\, including: \n— Backpacks\, suitcases and rolling bags and all coolers \n— Glass containers \n— Cans \n— Any container capable of carrying more than 1 liter of liquid \n— Handbags\, packages or items larger than 12” by 12” by 6” \n— Blankets\, comforters\, duvets or sleeping bags \n— Props (including sporting equipment and military and fire gear) \n— Costumes covering the face or any form-fitting bulky outfits \n— Weapons\, flammable liquid\, fuel\, fireworks or explosives. \nSpectators along the Marathon route are asked to carry their personal items in clear plastic bags. \nOnly spectators with a BAA invitation will be allowed into the grandstand. Everyone entering the grandstand will be subject to security screening. No one will be allowed to enter the Athletes’ Village without an official race bib. \n“Bandit” runners – those who are not entered in the race but who run part of the route anyway – are forbidden to run.
