An organ recital at Salisbury Cathedral on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7:30pm will be a memorial to those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Organist Timothy Hone will play Alain’s Trois Danses, Howells’ Third Rhapsody, which was written during a 1918 bombing raid on York, and Barber’s Adagio for Strings, which was often played in the first days after the attacks.
Howell’s concert will end with Reubke’s Sonata on the 94th Psalm, which is thought to be one of the finest 19th century organ works.
