Engraving could start this summer on 9/11 first responders’ memorial

The names of those Staten Island police officers, operating engineers, ironworkers, DSNY workers, EMS personnel, and firefighters who have died from World Trade Center-related illnesses could begin to appear on the new memorial as early as this summer, reported Diane C. Lore in the Staten Island Advance. The new memorial will be next to the Postcards Memorial on the St. George esplanade.

A meeting was held last week to update the families of the fallen recovery workers on the memorial’s progress.

The memorial is expected to be ready for the 2017 anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
