“Come from Away” creators say Grammy nomination came as a shock

Irene Sankoff and David Hein, who created the musical Come from Away, have been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album of the Year, reports David Friend in the Canadian Press. The Grammys will take place in New York City on January 28, 2018.

Recording the musical was a challenge. The 12-member cast recorded the album in recording booths arranged in a semicircle so that they could see one another in an effort to maintain Come from Away‘s spirit and intimacy.

Come from Away this week also broke the all-time box office record at its home, the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
