Kevin Rooney, aged 38, died after an eight-month battle with site-related cancer last month, report Anthony Capote and Lisa Herndon of The Riverdale Press.
Rooney became an NYPD officer in 2000, serving with the 33rd Precinct. He was a police officer when he responded to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. He joined the FDNY in 2004.
