Broadway’s “Come from Away” being adapted for the big screen

Broadway World reports that the Mark Gordon Company has announced plans to produce and finance a feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical Come from Away.

The show’s creators, Irene Sankoff and David Hein, will write the film’s screenplay.

Come from Away won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical, and was nominated for seven other Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book of a Musical.

Come from Away tells the true story of 7,000 airline passengers and crew stranded by terrorism on 9/11 and the tiny Canadian town that cared for them.
