Ballston Spa’s new 9/11 memorial vandalized

Diane Granberg of Ballston Spa has been arrested and charged with vandalism for damage to the village’s new 9/11 monument, which was dedicated three days ago, writes Steve Hughes in the Albany Times Union.

Granberg allegedly wrote on the memorial’s bench and a flower pot with a marker. She did not damage the two steel train tracks from beneath the World Trade Center. Police say she was adding her father’s name to the memorial, though he had no connection to the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

Some of the graffiti has been removed.
