A message from our friends at the Nicholas Rossomando 9/11 Memorial Scholarship

Nicholas Rossomando 9/11 Memorial Scholarship

“As you know, The Nicholas Rossomando 9/11 Memorial Scholarship has held a fundraiser each year in conjunction with the ING NYC Marathon since 2006. The money collected through these fundraisers is used to help student athletes from Port Richmond High School, Nick’s Alma Mater, who have faced great adversity, conquered it and gone on to achieve. We have been doing this since June, 2002.

This year we will again award student athletes meeting this criteria, however, we have decided that the monies raised this year from our 2012 marathon fundraiser will be donated to help the victims of hurricane Sandy on Staten Island. We will be donating $42,000.00 to help these victims recover from this horror that they are experiencing at this time.

The Red Cross and FEMA did not arrive on Staten Island until Saturday, 11/3/12, hurricane Sandy left Staten Island on Tuesday, October 30th. It was Staten Islander helping Staten Islanders in need.

Now we will help. The $42,000.00 will be donated to the Staten Island victims of Sandy through the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation who in the absence of government agencies has taken the steps to make sure our people survive this devastation. Many have lost homes, property and their lives, it is the least that we can do. Our donation will be made in the name of our charity’s 2012 ING NYC Marathon Team.”

Nick’s Fund will accept donations, which will go to the Staten Island victims of Sandy.
