9/11 Victim Compensation Fund has paid out more than $3B this year 

Payouts by the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund to sick rescue and recovery workers were more than $3 billion this year, which surpasses the amount — a $2.775 billion originally authorized by Congress, reports Larry McShane in the New York Daily News.

The agency is still working on the backlog of claims, currently those of the sick who filed in 2015.
