6-year-old completes triathlon after 3 open-heart surgeries

When 6-year-old Jack Foley completed the Long Beach Kids Triathlon, his first, he raised his hands over his head to imitate the pose his uncle Michael Kiefer struck when he finished his first triathlon on September 9, 2001. Firefighter Michael Kiefer, 25, was killed two days after his triathlon in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Jack never knew his uncle. Since birth, Jack has battled hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare and often fatal heart disease. After several surgeries, Jack is doing tremendously well, reports Robert Jimison for CNN.
