2016 Siller Run: Father of fallen 9/11 fireman still feels pain

Sam Cannizzaro, 80, a retired FDNY firefighter with a 33-year career, lost his son, FF Brian Cannizzaro, in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Today, he carried his son’s banner at the 15th annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run, reported Jim Waggoner  in the Staten Island Advance.

“They say time heals all wounds, but that’s baloney,” he said. “It really doesn’t. It might smooth it out a little bit, but it never heals the pain. People mean well when they say they understand, but they don’t really understand.
